Amber Liekhus

Once described as a “…versatile singer, whose voice is at once regal and affectionate…" (Los Angeles Times), this proud Pepperdine alum, originally from Kansas City, Missouri, has had an exciting and successful career performing professionally for nearly two decades. Since graduating from Pepperdine, Amber has performed all over the US and abroad, at sea and on land, in musicals, operas, national commercials, and films. Some of her musical theater credits include: Annie at The Hollywood Bowl, Sweet Charity with Reprise 2.0, Blues in the Night at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Ain't Misbehavin' with McCoy Rigby Entertainment, and Rent - also with McCoy Rigby.

 

Amber was honored to be a member of the original cast of Frozen: Live at the Hyperion at Disney California Adventure and was also a cast member in Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular also at Disney California Adventure. Some of her opera credits include Queen of El Dorado in Candide at Los Angeles Opera, the title role in Suor Angelica with Opera Festival di Roma in Rome, Italy, the Old Woman in David Lang's Difficulty of Crossing a Field at Long Beach Opera, Lily in Porgy and Bess at both San Francisco Opera and Los Angeles Opera. Amber was a featured singer in the film. You Can't Fight Christmas, directed by Kenny Young; For Love of Liberty: The Story of America’s Black Patriots, directed by Frank Martin; and The Bloody Indulgent, directed by Ken Roht. Amber has also appeared in several commercials for Old Navy, J.C. Penney, and Samsung.

In 2019, Amber and her husband welcomed a beautiful baby boy named Julien. They soon relocated to Fountain Hills, Arizona where Amber embarked on a new career in hospitality where she is currently the Entertainment Manager at Great Wolf Lodge Arizona. She also expanded her vocal studio (Amber Liekhus Vocal Studio) to students all over the world including Mumbai and Cairo! In December 2020, her family grew with the addition of another beautiful baby boy named Jasper. Now a busy mom of two, a wife, a business professional, and a voice teacher, Amber ended her two-year hiatus from performing and returned to the stage last year as a featured singer in CARMEN at Arizona Opera and will return to AZO in TOSCA this January.
